Media Statement

After an extensive round of meetings between Vitasoy management, employees and the Labour Department, Vitasoy would like to announce the following agreements which have been reached on the principal elements of negotiation:

•  Salary adjustment

It has been normal practice to review salaries in July and the company had been due to make an announcement on this next Tuesday (15 July). We strongly believe our current take home remuneration package, including basic salary and commission, has been maintained at a very competitive level in the market place. We have further agreed to review commission rates before the end of July and inform staff of any adjustments to be made by then.

•  Working Hours

With regards to staff working hours, the commitment we ask of our staff matches the industry practice. Vitasoy has already committed to instigating measures to improve the efficiency of our logistical processes that will enable us to reduce the time demands on our staff.  

•  Communication Channels

Vitasoy has long established communication channels to facilitate and encourage feedback between frontline staff and management. We continue to look to ways to better communications and we have now committed to monthly meetings with myself as Hong Kong Chief Executive Officer to further improve dialog for the betterment of company performance and staff morale.

For the past 68 years we have been committed to developing a very strong corporate culture which is underlined by the exemplary level of loyalty we have achieved with our staff. Our staff turnover rate is one third of the industry average. Our employees have an overall average of 10 years of service and 25 percent of staff have been with the company for over 15 years. This is an employment record we are very proud of.  

Rather than being complacent we continually look to ways in which we can improve the working environment for our staff and ensure that we are the employer of choice in our industry sector. I strongly believe that at the present time we are in the leadership position.

We appreciate the efforts all parties, including all our staff, have made to ensure that the impact on our customers has been kept to a minimum.
